Lauren Suchman is an Assistant Professor in the Institute for Health and Aging and the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). She is also a Faculty Affiliate with UCSF’s Institute for Global Health Sciences and the Bixby Center for Global Reproductive Health. Dr. Suchman received her PhD in Anthropology from the Graduate Center of the City University of New York and her MA in Population and Reproductive Health Research from the Institute for Population and Social Research at Mahidol University, Thailand.
Ariana Thompson-Lastad, PhD, is an Assistant Professor at the UCSF Osher Center for Integrative Health and the Department of Family and Community Medicine. Dr. Thompson-Lastad is trained as a medical sociologist and conducts qualitative and community-engaged research focused on the role of integrative healthcare in advancing health equity. Her work primarily examines innovative approaches to primary care, including integrative group medical visits implemented in US community health centers and the community midwifery model of postpartum care. Dr.
Dr. Wang is an Associate Professor in the Institute for Health & Aging at the School of Nursing and an affiliated faculty member at the Center for Tobacco Control Research and Education, and the Philip R. Lee Institute for Health Policy Studies. As a health economist, Dr.
Susie Welty is a Senior Advisor for Business Development in the Institute for Global Health Sciences. She supports cross-collaboration across the Institute and UCSF. She also is the project director for CDC funded Global Health Security work in Latin America and the Middle East and Recent Infection Surveillance for HIV in PEPFAR countries. She has been involved in developing surveillance systems, supporting data use, and identifying innovative solutions to address the most pressing public health problems.
Monifa Willis, NP is a practicing nurse practitioner in mental health with over 20 years of experience working in the mental health field in various capacities.
Natalie L. Wilson, PhD, DNP, MPH, APRN-BC, is an associate professor of Nursing in the Department of Community Health Systems at the UCSF School of Nursing. Dr. Wilson’s research is informed by over 30 years of clinical expertise in primary care, HIV, and sexual health. As part of the Ending the HIV Epidemic National Strategy, she is currently focused on developing innovative solutions to address constraints in accessing HIV prevention and treatment in health for marginalized populations and those in disadvantaged socioeconomic environments.
Dr. Yao is an associate professor in the Institute for Health and Aging at the University of California, San Francisco. Her research focuses on the economic impact of cannabis use and tobacco product use including cigarettes, e-cigarettes, and secondhand smoke exposure. Dr. Yao has a broad background in public health, with specific training and expertise in health economics research and secondary data analysis on economic aspects of tobacco and cannabis use.
Jarmin Yeh, PhD, MPH, MSSW, is an Associate Professor in the Institute for Health & Aging, Department of Social & Behavioral Sciences, in the School of Nursing at UCSF. They are a sociologist, gerontologist, and age-friendly cities and health researcher. Their work broadly investigates social justice issues that impact the quality of life of community-dwelling older adults, people living with dementia, and caregivers.
